The Living Oceans Foundation is currently soliciting applications from high school teachers wanting to spend two weeks conducting educational activities and program development during the Foundation’s research mission to French Polynesia.
The Coral Reef Educator on the Water (CREW) program offers high school teachers the opportunity to join the Global Reef Expedition (GRE) on one of its missions. The CREW program is designed to give first-hand experience of life on board a working scientific research vessel, a greater understanding of the importance of coral reefs, and inspiration to convey what they have learned to their students and members of their community. For this opportunity, the CREW participant will join the research vessel, the M/Y Golden Shadow, during its mission to the Society Islands of French Polynesia.
All costs of the CREW program are covered by the Living Oceans Foundation. Travel and local transportation is arranged by the Foundation. In addition, the Global Reef Expedition will reimburse the CREW participant’s school for a substitute teacher while on the mission to French Polynesia. Responsibilities and requirements are detailed in the application.
