Many NOSB participants are interested in continuing their studies in the marine sciences after high school and eventually pursuing a career in ocean/coastal studies. Many resources exist for finding the right college or program.

For instance, in 2011 NOSB included information on Education and Career Opportunities for Students in the Finals Event Program. This information highlights some of the universities and federal agencies that support NOSB and showcases the programs that they offer specifically for students interested in marine and freshwater sciences. Options will vary depending on the area of study and the financial demands of individual programs. Because a wide variety of career opportunities exists within the ocean and coastal sciences, it is important to keep your options open and the best way to accomplish this is to avoid specializing too early.
