Title: Ocean Policy Update: Recent Accomplishments and Near-term Opportunities
Guest Expert Bio: Kevin Wheeler has been with the Consortium for Ocean Leadership since 2005. Formerly, Kevin was the Director of Federal Relations for Brown University, worked on the Science Committee for the U.S. House of Representatives, served as the Special Assistant to the Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, and also worked on Capitol Hill as Press Secretary and Legislative Assistant to Congressman Sherwood Boehlert.
As Vice President and Director of Public Affairs, Kevin is responsible for developing the organization’s policy positions, managing advocacy activities on Capitol Hill, maintaining relations with the Administration and federal agencies, as well as directing public relations and communications efforts on behalf of Ocean Leadership and its science programs which exceed $200 million annually.
Kevin holds advanced degrees in Environmental Management and Public Administration from Duke and Binghamton Universities respectively. Kevin and his wife Marina reside in Washington DC where they are raising their son and daughter.
