Welcome, NOSB® Alumni!
It is critically important for this nation that we better understand how exemplary students—such as yourself—make decisions regarding their futures. As a past participant of National Ocean Sciences Bowl competition, you may understand NOSB's focus on increasing awareness of science, particularly ocean science and associated careers. Now that NOSB is entering its 10th year, an important task for us is to capture information about the college and career selections of past and present NOSB participants. The Consortium for Ocean Leadership and the NOSB are embarking on a new NOAA funded research study to track past and present NOSB participants. Our primary goal is to find out what choices our NOSB students are making with regards to post high school academics and, ultimately, what careers they take on after college. We currently invite all past and present NOSB participants to join us in this exciting research endeavor.
Alumni interested in participating in this longitudinal study may register at http://www.coexploration.org/nosb/. During this registration process you will be asked for a current email address. You will then be contacted by Dr. Tina Bishop and Dr. Howard Walters, the researchers directing the study. Participants can expect to be sent a series of brief surveys to complete online twice each year to monitor their college and career activities over the next several years.
If you join us as part of this study, you will be given special access through an NOSB alumni web page to complete on-line surveys, participate in online discussions and receive the Ocean Leadership Weekly newsletter to keep you abreast of the most current issues occurring in the ocean science community. Your participation will be extremely important in obtaining required data necessary to establish future funding and ensure sustainability of the NOSB program.
