Internships and Scholarships
A great way to start to involve yourself in the marine and ocean sciences is to begin working in an internship or summer program that includes the fields in which you are interested. There are numerous internships and summer opportunities for students interested in marine and ocean science. The NOSB's Coastal and Ocean Science Training (COAST) Internship Program can provide insight into possible careers in marine and ocean science and offer valuable experience in the field. The NOSB's  National Ocean Scholar Program is available to students interested in ocean and marine science.

Additional Opportunities Around the Country
NOAA Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship Program - This scholarship provides up to $8,000 per year for undergraduates in their junior and senior year who are studying oceanic, environmental, biological, and atmospheric sciences, mathematics, engineering, remote sensing technology, physical and social sciences including geography, physics, hydrology, geomatics, or teacher education that support NOAA's programs and mission.

The BRIDGE – Student Opportunities - This site lists volunteer opportunities and student internships for those interested in marine science.

The BRIDGE – K-Adult Summer Opportunities - This site describes summer opportunities in coastal and marine science that are available to different age levels.

SeaGrant Internship/Fellowship/Volunteer Listings - This site provides information about various opportunities to work in the marine sciences.

American Meteorological Society Internships/Scholarships/Fellowships - Go to the drop down menu on the left that offer to help you navigate their site. Click on the box, scroll down and select Scholarships and Fellowships.

Smithsonian Environmental Research Center's (SERC) Internship Program - This program is designed to offer undergraduate and beginning graduate students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fields of environmental research and education.
