The 15th Annual National Ocean Sciences Bowl Finals Competition will be held in Baltimore, Maryland from April 19 – 22, 2012 at the Sheraton City Center.
The first round of the 2012 regional competitions took place on February 4, 2012.
[ April 19, 2012 to April 22, 2012. ] Baltimore’s Inner Harbor provides an interesting backdrop for the competition due to its history as an important port for U.S. trade.
This month, four NOSB teams packed up their bags, boarded planes and travelled to faraway destinations to further their understanding of ocean science. These adventures were prizes earned by their exemplary performance earlier this year at the 2011 NOSB Finals Competition in Galveston, Texas.
Please join the NOSB National Office in congratulating Jim Lubner on his retirement from the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant! Jim is a huge asset to the NOSB Lake Sturgeon Bowl and the National Office hopes he will continue to be involved in the program!

Twenty-four high schools from around the United States competed in this year’s NOSB Finals Competition. The NOSB is an ocean science education program of the Consortium for Ocean Leadership based in Washington, DC.
Each year, approximately 2,000 students from over 300 high schools participate at one of 25 regional NOSB competitions.
Brian Kennedy participated in the Southern Stingray Bowl as a sophomore, junior and senior while attending Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, GA.
With a pending retirement from the NEISD, this is my wife’s last trip as the head coach of the National Ocean and Science Bowl competition for James Madison.
