[ April 28, 2011 to May 1, 2011. ] The 14th Annual National Ocean Sciences Bowl Finals Competition will be held in Galveston, Texas from April 28 – May 1, 2011.
Each year, approximately 2,000 students from over 300 high schools participate at one of 25 regional NOSB competitions.
Ten Cordova High School students participated last month in the Alaska Tsunami Bowl, the regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. They joined 22 teams of students from around the state for the academic competition, held annually in Seward during the first weekend in February.
On February 6th, 2010, nearly half of the 25 regional sites held their regional competitions.
More than a dozen teams from regional high schools will converge upon UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography on March 6 to prove they know the most about the coast during the 13th annual La Jolla Surf Bowl.
Students from Conval Regional High School in Peterborough will head to Seward, Alaska, for four days in late April to compete in the National Ocean Sciences Bowl.

The National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB®) is an academic competition that tests high school students knowledge of the marine sciences including biology, chemistry, physics, and geology.
When the ocean science team from Dexter, Michigan learned their prize for taking 4th place in the 2008 National Ocean Sciences Bowl would be a four-day tour of their home state, the irony was not lost on them.
