Last week, Allison Byrd accompanied the second place team, Marine Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) from Highlands, New Jersey to North Carolina for their summer award trip.
The National Ocean Scholar Program awarded five high school seniors a $1,500 scholarship for their first year of college.
NOSB is preparing to announce the National Ocean Scholarship winners. Applicants must have met the criteria of having participated in a National Ocean Sciences Bowl competition, have a career goal in the ocean sciences, demonstrated academic success and be scheduled to graduate this summer.
Twenty-five high schools from around the United States competed in this year’s NOSB Finals Competition. Marshfield High School from Marshfield, Wisconsin took home the top honors.
The 13th Annual National Ocean Sciences Bowl is taking place in St. Petersburg, Florida from April 23-25, 2010 at the University of South Florida.
On February 6th, 2010, nearly half of the 25 regional sites held their regional competitions.
