About 200 students, coaches, and volunteers converged at the School of Natural Resources and Environment on Saturday to participate in the 15th annual Great Lakes Bowl, one of the 25 regional competitions of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl.
Oakland High’s team won fourth place out of 16 schools last weekend at the regional Sea Lion Bowl held at San Francisco State.
Sixteen local high schools, including teams from Carlsbad High and Escondido Charter High, went head to head testing their knowledge on marine science Saturday at the annual Grunion Bowl.
On Saturday, La Jolla High School’s best and brightest will compete at the region’s Grunion Bowl to determine which Southern Californian team will advance to the Annual National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB).
Students from Sanford High School will be competing in the Nor’easter Bowl at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire, on Saturday, Feb. 5.
Each year, approximately 2,000 students from over 300 high schools participate at one of 25 regional NOSB competitions.
From South Carolina to Georgia, a new location site has been named for the Southern Stingray Bowl, one of the 25 regional competitions being held this year for the Consortium for Ocean Leadership’s National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB®).
