Scientific Mentors
If you are a scientist, there are a number of opportunities for mentoring or offering your expertise to participating NOSB teams. Contact the Regional Coordinator at a site near you. The Regional Coordinator can provide you with ideas for your involvement and can connect you with coaches of participating NOSB teams. Below is a list of just some of the opportunities available for scientists interested in working with the talented individuals that make up the NOSB teams.
- Provide career information and advice to aspiring students in the field of ocean and marine sciences.
- Give presentations throughout the NOSB team’s study schedule on your current research that explores the fundamental concepts of one or more of the following ocean-related topics: Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Geology, Marine Policy, Math, Physics, Social Sciences, or Technology.
- Lead a field trip to oceanographic instiutions, aquaria, field sites, research vessels and give students an opportunity to see scientists in action, and to see what kinds of career oportunities exist in the field of ocean sciences.
